Description
In this presentation, we will explore key considerations for supporting families as they transition from placement toward adoption finalization. Core areas of focus will include the impact of grief and loss, patterns of adjustment among children and caregivers, and common emotional and behavioral responses that may arise during this time. Additionally, we will address approaches for supporting the child’s emotional experience, ways in which adoption-related themes emerge across various developmental stages, and processes through which identity formation evolves. Finally, we’ll review available postadoption resources and highlight situations in which families may benefit from seeking additional support.
